What is recorded here

Located towards the S end of the Imlagh Basin, c. 500m S of KE087-088----, this narrow earthen track was uncovered during recent peat-cutting. Measuring .6m wide, it occurs .35m below the surface of the bog and overlies .25m of Phragmites peat. It appears to run in a N-S direction. A sample of peat from the level of the track yielded a radiocarbon date of 1700±80 BP (Mitchell 1989, 64). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
