Hut site in Cloontreem

In rough peaty pasture, on the S side of a rocky terrace, on the lower SE-facing slopes of Eagle Hill. The remains of a D-shaped hut site (1.9m N-S) defined by the partially bog-covered lower courses of a curving drystone wall (T 0.55m; H 0.5m) with a straight N side (L 2.1m), consisting of the linear face of outcropping rock at N. The drystone wall mainly consists of stone slabs that are set at right angles to the line of the wall and that lean against each other. There is a hut site (CO115-149001-) 5m to the N and another hut site (CO115-149003-) is 5m to the W. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
