Hut site in Bunnamohaun

Situated in the inner face of the bank in the south-western part of the enclosure (MA084-001007-) that also contains MA084-001008-. The hut comprises a small grassy hollow, oval in plan (2m E–W, 1.7m N–S) defined by a bank/scarp of angular stones. From S through W to NNW, it is delimited by a stony scarp up to 0.4m high: elsewhere, stony bank defines its limits. In the south-eastern sector, the bank is revetted internally by a long, thin slab (L 1.05m, H 0.55m, T 0.15m) set on edge, but now pitched outwards. A narrow gap (Wth 0.35m) at NE flanked by a small set stone on its north-western side probably marks the entrance. The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island.
