No visible trace remains of the smaller circle or earthen mound on the south slope, yet the hidden hut may have served as a quiet shelter for the hermitage rather than a grand ritual centre. Forgetting the exact spot is not a loss of truth; it is a reminder that the landscape still keeps some of its own counsel.

On Brandon Hill. According to Shearman (1876-8, 195-6), ‘The summit of the hill is crowned by a large cairn [KK029-032001-]; on the northern side is a circle of standing stones [KK029-032002-], about 15 yards in diameter, and on the south slope is a smaller circle [KK029-041001-] and a mound of earth [KK029-041002-] called St. Brendan’s Hermitage’.
