What is recorded here

Six low stone circles sit beside the cashel on Crockacashel Hill, overlooking Lough Swilly. They are small enough to enter without thinking, yet persistent enough to mark the saddle between hilltops. People may have sat there in rain, watched the water or kept something warm beside a flame. The stones do not claim to be grand; they simply remain where human life once paused above the shore.

Located immediately to E of a cashel (DG029-017001-) on top of Crockacashel Hill, which rises directly from the rocky shore of Lough Swilly to the W. Boyle-Somerville (1909, 232-233) recorded that ‘In the saddle between the two tops of the hill and close outside the wall of the cashel there are six small stone circles, each perfect or nearly so, but low, and composed of comparatively small stones, all untrimmed.’ Lacy (1983, 116, no. 707) noted four small circles of stones, about 3m in diameter, to the E of the cashel, between it and the second summit on this hill.
