What is recorded here
At the foot of rocky cliff along slopes on small terrace area. Capstone c. 1.8 by 1.8m with a thickness of 0.5m at right side and thinning towards left. Numerous support stones shaping the walls and entrance which faces E. Entrance height c. 0.6m, but may well have been higher as much earth seems to have accumulated inside. Inside area c. 2.5m in depth and 1.6m in width. Capstone may have been in this position through rockfall, but looks as if it was put there after a supporting set of stones was put in place. Virtually attached is a small area bordered on N and E side by some large earthfast rocks but augmented into a type of walled corner by means of stones placed on top of this. Along the N side, where there is a drop of several meters, the walls run for c. 2.6m, thereafter they turn S for another c. 3.4m in an inverted L shape. Together with another monument nearby this hut may well have been along an ancient track, just W of where the present road crosses the Beenarourke Pass.
