What is recorded here
Two circular stone huts in County Kerry still stand inside a modern sheep-fold, their narrow passage and blocked doorway preserving a small domestic shape beneath agricultural use. One chamber measures 3.5m across and the other at least 3.8m, while walls 1.1 to 1.3m thick rise to 1.55m before corbelling inward. Each hut keeps a single wall niche, the kind of detail that suggests storage, light or ritual rather than mere shelter. The huts are no longer separate homes but a forgotten room within a living farm, still holding the scale of the people who built them.
A pair of conjoined circular corbelled drystone huts now partly destroyed and incorporated into a large complex sheep-fold. The communicating lintelled passage is .45m wide, .73m high and 1.5m long, and the lintelled doorway to the exterior, at the E side of the SW hut KE043-074----, is .82m wide and .72m high but now blocked. Each hut has a single small wall niche. D: 3.5m and at least 3.8m. H: 1.55m. T: 1.1 to 1.3m.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 1119. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
