Hut site in Baile An Fheirtéaraigh

At the foot of the NE slopes of Croaghmarhin, in poor, wet pastureland. Though marked on the OS maps as a 'Stone Circle', the remains at this site are probably those of a hut or a sheep-fold. A roughly circular area, 2.53m in diameter, is enclosed by upright stones and stones laid on edge. Directly E of this is a box-like arrangement of 5 upright stones, open to NE and measuring 1.45 x 1.09m internally. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
