What is recorded here

Dublin's oldest streets still hide a house where Hiberno-Norse hands shaped wood and bone before Norman stone rose above them. A decorated comb carried a Runic inscription, proving that people lived, marked and remembered the place long before castle walls erased the first floors. The house did not disappear; it waited underneath, preserving the breath of the people who built it.

Excavations in 1985concentrated in the area outside the NW corner tower of the castle and outside the edge of the moat producedevidence of pre-Norman occupation, e. g. wattle structures and a decorated bone comb with Runic inscription (possibly 10th - century (Lynch 1986, 22)
