House

House, 17th century

What is recorded here

The terrier accompanying the Down Survey (1655-6) parish map of Mayne lists ‘Robert Shee Ir[ish] pap[is]t’ as the proprietor of Suttonsrath in 1640 and the properties listed included, ‘at Suttonsrath an old Bawne and a Thatcht Cabbin’ (ibid.). The thatched house is not depicted on the Down Survey barony or parish map and it was not necessarily located in the bawn (KK014-075001-) which is depicted. The precise location of the house is unknown within the townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 15 June 2020
