House

House, 17th century

What is recorded here

In the Civil Survey (1654-6) there is a reference to 'two thatcht houses with chemnyes' in 'Rehill' which in 1640 was under the proprietorship of 'Thomas Lord Baron of Cahyr. Irish Papist' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 364). These houses were tentatively located at Rehill House. However, the house and farm buildings are of 18th-century date with no visible evidence above ground of an earlier structure at the location. The buildings are currently lying derelict. The 17th-century houses remains unlocated within the townland. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 13 January 2014
