According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Rath Kieny', which was under the proprietorship of ‘Richard Wall of Rath Kieny Irish Papist’ in 1640 and included in the properties on the land was 'A thatcht house' (Simington 1931, vol.1, 179). Mullally (1862-3, vol. 7, 147) in discussing the 1635 Wale or Wall wall monument (TS070-040068-) in the Augustinian abbey (TS070-040--4-) in Fethard mentions that 'The old house of Rathkenny is still extant in pretty good repair. No trace of this Wale or Wall family now exists, except one branch now in low circumstances'. This house is unlocated within the townland of Rathkenny.
