House

The Down Survey (1655-6) depicts two houses at Kilnagranagh. According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) at Kilnegranagh', which was under the proprietorship of ‘Thomas Tobyn of Kilnegranagh Irish Papist’ in 1640, ‘Upon this land stands the walls of a stone house not finished' (Simington 1931, vol.1, 148). In the 19th century it was noted that 'Briscelagh was the ancient name of the residence of the Tobin family at Kylenegranagh, the old foundation of which is yet extant, and is called by the neighbours 'Shanaclogh,' [Seáncloch] or old stone - it is situated opposite the front door of Mr. Patrick L.
