According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Richardstowne' in 1640 there 'stands a good thatcht house' and the proprietors are listed as 'John Butler of Richardstowne Gent Dominick Lynch of Waterford Mercht Irish Papists' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 263). This house is unlocated within the townland of BallyRichard.
