House

House, 17th century

What is recorded here

There is no visible trace of this 17th-century house above ground. It is referred to in the Civil Survey (1654-6) as 'a thatch house ... without repaire within a Bawne [TS087-024002-] lately rebuilt by the Lady Everard' (Simington 1931, vol.1, 372). This house is unlocated within Ballyboy East townland, though a small portion of the enclosing bawn (TS087-024002-) does survive. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 25 November 2013

This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
