Terraced two-bay three-storey former house over basement, built c.1820. Now used as flats. M-profile tiled roof with smooth-rendered chimneystack to rear span of roof over east gable wall, behind parapet wall. Brick facade, laid in Flemish bond, with granite coping to parapet, painted granite string course and ruled-and-lined render to basement level. Grit-blasted brick to rear elevation with smooth render to basement and ground floor level. Square-headed window openings to facade with granite sills and replacement uPVC windows. Mild steel security bars to basement windows. Round-headed stair window to rear elevation. Segmental-headed brick arch door opening to facade with rendered reveals, and replacement panelled timber doorcase with panelled door and timber spoked fanlight. Door opens to granite platform, spanning basement well, and granite steps. Wrought-iron railings on painted granite plinth wall with cast-iron newel post surrounding basement well. Steel steps descend to basement well. Granite flagstone to pavement with cast-iron coal hole cover.

Number 583 is the easternmost building in a group of three terraced houses dating from the 1820s. Situated on the North Circular Road, the house is identical in style to many of its contemporary dwellings, and is characterized by proportions and restrained detailing typical of the period. Comprising three storeys over a basement, the brick-faced house was originally fenestrated with six-over-six pane timber sash windows. However, because of deterioration and subsequent refurbishment, they were replaced. In spite of this, the house and its neighbours contribute to the historic character of the street, retaining important streetscape features, including a railed basement well and coal hole.
