What is recorded here
End-of-terrace two-bay two-storey house, extant 1922, on a square plan. Extended, 1997, producing present composition. One of a terrace of three. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks having paired stringcourses below capping, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Rendered walls. Segmental-headed door opening with step threshold, and rendered surround including moulded archivolt framing replacement timber panelled door having overlight. Square-headed window openings in bipartite arrangement with concrete sills, timber mullions, and concealed dressings framing one-over-one timber sash windows. Street fronted with footpath to front.
A house representing an integral component of the domestic built heritage of Arthurstown with the architectural value of the composition, one potentially repurposing a nineteenth-century house marked on the second edition of the Ordnance Survey (surveyed 1902; published 1904), suggested by such attributes as the compact square plan form; the uniform or near-uniform proportions of the openings on each floor with those openings showing bipartite glazing patterns; and the high pitched roofline. Having been well maintained, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, thus upholding the character or integrity of a house forming part of a self-contained ensemble (including 15616017 - 15616018) making a pleasing visual statement in a bayside village street scene.
