House

House, indeterminate date

What is recorded here

Situated in centre of a ringfort (WM005-026----). The grass-covered wall footings (Wth 2.3m; H 0.35m) of a long, rectangular-shaped house (approx. ext. dims. 12.5m N-S; 6m E-W; int. dims. 10m N-S; 3.5m E-W), orientated NNE-SSW, are visible in the centre of a ringfort. Two opposing gaps along the E (Wth 1.7m) and W (Wth 1.5m) sides of the building probably represent the remains of doorways into the building. A possible second house site (WM026-005002-) may be located immediately to E. The long dimensions of this house along with the presence of two opposing doorways could suggest the remains of a post-medieval vernacular house.
