What is recorded here
Seventeenth-century house mentioned in the Civil Survey (1654-6) 'as one thatch house & six cottages', (Simington 1934, Vol. 2, 305) had been tentatively located at Johnstown House, the main house in the townland. Field inspection in 1995 established that there are no surface remains of any dwelling pre 1700 in this area. House remains unlocated within the townland.
