What is recorded here
Situated on flat pasture with good views in all directions and a nearby ringfort (TN048-014) to the N. A seventeenth-century house built onto the E face of a tower house (TN048-017001). The crease line of a gable of this two-storey house is visible, with an offset built aginst the external face of the tower to support the first-floor beams of the house. During the construction of this offset a large segmental-arched embrasure was built into the external face of the E wall of the tower. The method of constructing the seventeenth-century house against the E face of the tower by adding an outer skin to the tower is an interesting feature not paralleled elsewhere in Tipperary North Riding.
