What is recorded here

On a gentle SE facing slope overlooking Brandon Bay, circular enclosure KE026-021---- is marked on the OS maps. A spread of small stones covers the entire surface and flanks of the platform and these become denser towards the edge forming a barely discernible bank. This may be the site described in the OSNB (Cloghane, book 1, 43) as 'a heap of stones forming a kind of circle' with a small house and Man-made underground passage visible within. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 647. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 7 August 2013
