A house representing an integral component of the early nineteenth-century domestic built heritage of south County Wexford with the architectural value of the composition, one allegedly erected by Caesar Colclough (1766-1824) for two spinster aunts (Rowe and Scallan 2004, 791), suggested by such attributes as the compact, near-square plan form; and the slight diminishing in scale of the openings on each floor producing a feint graduated visual impression. Having been well maintained, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, including a slate hung surface finish, thereby upholding the character or integrity of a house having subsequent connections with the Horeswood parish Catholic curacy including Reverend James Forrestal (----), 'Clergyman' (NA 1901); and Reverend James Somers (----), 'Catholic Curate' (NA 1911).
