Fulacht Fian

Marked only on the 1940 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a fulacht fia, and situated on a slight SE-facing slope with a small NE-SW stream c. 65m to the SE. It was described in 1940 as a kidney-shaped mound (dims c. 14.5m x c. 13.7m; H c. 0.9-1.2m) of charred stones and black soil open to the E (OSFM). It was not visible at ground level in pasture in 1988, but it is visible as a dark stain on the vertical aerial photographs (GSIAP S 664/663) as well as on Google Earth (April and May 2009).
