What is recorded here
Horse Island, a small islet off County Kerry, held twelve people in 1956 before emptying completely by 1961. It sits between the mainland and Valentia Island near Portmagee, now owned by the McGill family but no longer inhabited. The sudden loss of every resident suggests a practical break, perhaps work, marriage or simply a place no longer worth keeping alive.
Horse Island is recorded as a islet in County Kerry. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
