Honister Slate Mine, located in the Lake District, was a working slate mine from the 18th to the 20th century and is now a tourist attraction managed by the National Trust. It is historically significant for its role in the local slate industry and for its preserved industrial heritage, including the famous Honister Pass and the use of the "slate hawks" to transport materials.
