The Battle of Homildon Hill was fought in 1402 between English forces led by the Earl of Northumberland and Scottish troops under Archibald, 4th Earl of Douglas. The English won a decisive victory, capturing Douglas and halting a Scottish invasion; it marked a turning point in the border conflicts between England and Scotland.
