Holy well in Lismore

The precise location of the holy well in the townland of Lismore has not been identified. Holy well mentioned in 1940 in the minute book of Co. Kerry Field Club which recalled; 'The local residents mention that there was a holy well in connection with this site [Lismore church and graveyard KE029-033001-] at which rounds used to be part'. Linked to Saint Lys, who is traditionally associated with the area of Lismore, the holy well was believed to have curative properties, particularly for eye ailments. Local tradition held that the well was visited on specific feast days, with offerings of coins and cloth left as tokens of gratitude.
