What is recorded here

Kildalton means the church of Dalton, and the well still belongs to that old church. Whether Dalton was a saint, a family or a forgotten local hero, the name preserves him beneath the water. People may have drunk from it, washed wounds or left coins during fever and famine. The well remains the visible part of a church that no longer stands.
