Holy well

What is recorded here

Keenoge holds a holy well where clean water still rises beside Duleek. People may have washed wounds, begged grace or simply drank when thirst struck. The well remains a small ritual marker in County Meath, waiting for someone to remember why it was cherished.

This holy well is associated with Saint Kevin, a 6th-century monastic founder and patron saint of Glendalough, and is traditionally linked to cures for eye ailments and general healing. Local folklore suggests that water from the well was collected on specific feast days, particularly at dawn, and used in rituals to ensure protection and good health.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
