Holy wells are ritual sites. In this instance a small well once stood beside a road in County Limerick. It belonged to St John in local naming, though no devotions were remembered when it was last described. The thorn bushes have swallowed it, leaving only a hidden line in the field where water may still move beneath the soil.

According to Ó Danachair (1955, 204) the 'Blessed Well' or 'St John's Well' was 'a small well surrounded by thorn bushes inside north fence of road 400 yards west of Granagh Catholic church' where 'no devotions remembered'.
