Holy well in Formoyle West is a hidden water place beside the Caher River, near Formoyle Chapel and the old ridge pasture. It may have given drink, cleansing or prayer to people who knew where the ground drank deep. The well does not need a grand story; it needs to be remembered as a living marker of the landscape.

In rough pasture at the SE foot of a low but steep-sided ridge, c. 60m to the W of the Caher River. Indicated and named ‘Tobar Bhrain’ on Robinson’s (1977) map. Not visible at ground level. Linked to St. Brain (Bhrain), the well is traditionally associated with healing and protection. Local folklore suggests that the water was once used to cure ailments and that the site was a place of pilgrimage, particularly in times of illness or personal hardship.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
