What is recorded here

St John's well in Durrow Townparks remains unlocated, though a 1983 development plan still names it. That absence is not a mistake but an invitation to imagine the woman who first dipped her hand into its dark water, the child who played beside it, or the stranger who drank when thirst became a knife. The well may have given up its name because it stopped belonging to one town or one plan. It may have become a regional memory, carrying the lives of everyone who ever used it.
