Holy well in Derrigimlagh

On E face of a small scarp on Daily Hill, 0.5km NW of Ballyconneely. A wet hollow among stones is all that marks this 'unfinished' holy well which is associated with St Caíllín. According to local tradition, the saint, having left Errislannan, stopped here but, on hearing St Flannan's bell, realised he hadn't gone far enough and moved on toward Slyne Head where his real well is to be found (GA048-012----) (info. This holy well is associated with St Caíllín, a female saint often linked to fertility and healing in Irish tradition. Local folklore suggests that the site was intended to be a proper holy well but was left unfinished, possibly due to supernatural intervention or incomplete construction.
