Holy well in Beheens West — Report the wrong picture

Not marked on any edition of the OS maps, it was known locally as 'Tobar Uí Laighin' (Folklore Commission of Ireland 1938-39). Situation and Description: This well lies SW of a levelled burial ground (KE016-029----). The well is thought to have been dedicated to St Brigid. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 925. The well is associated with the Ui Laighin (a historic Irish kindred group), suggesting a pre-Christian or early Christian tradition. It may have been venerated for its healing properties, as was common with many holy wells linked to local lore and saintly or ancestral cults.
