Two limestone steps and a low stone roof mark the holy well in Ballycannon, County Cork. A concrete niche above holds the Blessed Virgin, while flowers still crowd the small brick-lined opening. The water sits hidden beneath a modest box on the roadside, yet the care given the place suggests people still come there to ask, remember or be quiet for a moment.
