Described as a Holy Well on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as the site of a holy well on the 1940 ed. It is situated in a low-lying landscape with a N-S stream immediately to the W. It is not visible at ground level. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 15 March, 2012

Linked to Saint Gobnait, the well is traditionally associated with cures for eye ailments and was a site of pilgrimage in early Christian times. The persistence of its designation on Ordnance Survey maps suggests a long-standing local reverence, though specific folklore connected to Ballytegan Park remains undocumented.
