Lisburn has continuously sheltered human ambition from the post-medieval period through the seventeenth century, outlasting every kingdom that claimed it. The settlement predates modern borders and survived the violent reshaping of Irish identity. Its continuity is a testament to human adaptability rather than royal decree.
