Holm WoodsWood · 476 ydCrawick, ViaductRailway Viaduct (19th Century) · 848 yd

Explorer Tom Crawick Viaduct is a 19th-century railway bridge that groans at night like it’s remembering its ex. It makes a sound that sounds suspiciously like a disappointed sigh every time the wind hits the arches just right. You can almost hear it complaining about the maintenance schedule while the trains rattle past. Hum something sad nearby, it adds atmosphere.

SanquharFindspot (19th Century), Maul (stone) · 940 yd

Explorer Tom Sanquhar is also home to a stone maul that looks like it’s been used for punching things in anger. I swear a goat once ruled this spot, just eating the grass and looking smug while people worried about history. The churchyard nearby has a Polish memorial, so there’s plenty of layers here. Best enjoyed with a bag of chips and no plans.

CrawickFindspot (19th Century), Hammer (stone) · 968 yd

Explorer Tom Crawick in Dumfries and Galloway is basically a colliery that lost its memory and found a hammer instead. It’s got no assigned period, which means it could be from yesterday or last Tuesday, totally confusing the historians. I bet it would win best in show at the county fair for most mysterious object. Ring your granny and tell her where you are.

Queensberry SquarePark · 1063 ydSanquhar, St Mary's Street, ChurchChurch (19th Century) - (20th Century), Hall (20th Century) · 1076 yd

Explorer Tom Sanquhar, St Mary's Street, Church has been around since the 19th century and still looks like it has plenty of secrets left to tell. It’s got a hall attached, which suggests people went there for more than just prayers. I think its family tree is mostly made up, but who really wants to check? If it's closed, admire it from the road like a polite stalker.

400th Anniversary of the Royal Charter CairnMemorial · 1108 ydSanquhar Tolbooth MuseumMuseum · 1189 ydWar MemorialMemorial · 1255 ydSanquhar CastleCastle (medieval) · 1.1 mi

Explorer Tom Sanquhar Castle survived a storm that it definitely exaggerates to sound tougher than it actually is, claiming it held back the sea with its bare hands. It’s a medieval castle in a small town, so it gets a lot of attention for doing very little. Tell your mates you found it first.

Orchard GlenWood · 1.3 miRyehillFarmstead (post Medieval), Tower House (medieval) · 1.5 mi

Explorer Tom Ryehill is a farmstead and tower house combo that is incredibly proud of its ability to grow potatoes without any help from modern machinery. It stands by the road looking smug, knowing full well that every passing driver wants to stop for a quick look but never does. Stand there long enough and someone will ask if you're lost.
