This blue commemorative plaque records: For Valour Lieutenant Colonel H. Jones VC OBE Commanding Officer 2nd Battalion The Parachute Regiment 1940 - 1982 A resident of Kingswear Served in the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment 1960 - 1980 Awarded the Victoria Cross for most conspicuous gallantry in charging an enemy machine gun position during the battle for Darwin and Goose Green, Falkland Islands on 28th May 1982 Kingwear Remembered, 11th November 2002
