What is recorded here

John Revell died the 24th day of June 1694 according to the incised letters still visible on the stone outside St Patrick's church. The small marker sits at the northeast angle of the tower, preserving a personal request for burial pleasure rather than a grand claim about virtue or rank. That much is clear. What is missing is the shape of the life that ended so suddenly, yet the date and name remain sharp enough to imagine him walking those roads before fever or accident took him.

The headstone (dims 0.33m x 0.8m; T 0.19-0.21m) of John Revell with a chamfer on one edge and an incised inscription is outside the NE angle of the church tower of St Patrick's church (ME036-048012-). The incised inscription has been read (FitzGerald 1921-5, 73) as: I R / JOHN REVELL / HIS BURING / PLEASCE WHO / DIED THE 24 / DAY OF IUNE / 1694.
