Amhuinnsuidhe Castle on Harris was built in the 19th century as a country house for the Macleod of Macleod family, the chiefs of the Clan Macleod. It is important as a symbol of the historical and cultural heritage of the Western Isles and as an example of 19th-century Scottish architecture in a remote and historically significant landscape.
