Hareshaw, Gauk Stone

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Hareshaw, Gauk Stone as Standing Stone (prehistoric)(possible). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dated to the Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, the Gauk Stone may have functioned as a territorial marker or ceremonial site. Local folklore sometimes associates such stones with protective or supernatural powers.
