Hare Crags is a sea cliff composed primarily of Carboniferous sandstone, formed around 300 to 340 million years ago through sedimentary deposition in ancient river and delta systems. The cliff is notable for its resistant rock layers and coastal erosion features, typical of the Northumberland coastline.
