Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Grista as Chambered Cairn (neolithic). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Neolithic chambered cairn; dates to the 4th to 3rd millennium BCE. Such tombs are significant as early communal burial sites and reflect the complex social and ritual practices of Neolithic Scotland.
