This brass commemorative plaque records: A tribute to the affectionate fidelity of Greyfriars Bobby. in 1858 this faithful dog followed the remains of his master to Greyfriars Churchyard and lingered near the spot until his death in 1872.
Greyfriars Bobby is a Skye terrier remembered for remaining loyal to his owner's grave site at Greyfriars Kirkyard in Edinburgh for over a decade after the owner's death in 1858. His unwavering devotion made him a symbol of loyalty and inspired numerous literary works and a statue erected in his honor.
