Great Coum has an elevation of approximately 296 meters (971 feet) and is part of the low-lying fells of the Lake District. It is composed mainly of Ordovician slate and is a minor but recognizable feature within the local landscape, valued by walkers and historians for its quiet, unspoiled character.
