Graveyard in Rosserk

At Rosserk Fransican Third Order Regular friary (MA022-082001-). In 1604 the friary consisted of ‘1 acre in which there was a church and cemetery and other ruinous buildings’ O’Hara (1898, 259, note 1). There is now no trace of a graveyard at ground level. A number of graveslabs or memorials of 18th-/19th-century date can be seen within the friary church. A tomb, dedicated to the Mangan family, as well as a broken graveslab, dated 1857, are located beneath the bell tower, and another graveslab, fragmented into two, inscribed with INRI and HIS (Jesus Hominen Salvator), flanked by a cross and two carved heads, is located in the chapel/transept.
