Graveyard in Rathbran

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Graveyard in Rathbran, County Wicklow: O'Flanagan recorded it in 1928 as still receiving the dead although its church had vanished. That is the shape of the place, a funeral memory continuing without the building that gave it address. People may have kept bringing coffins past the empty ground because the graves themselves still spoke.
A graveyard mentioned in the OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1928, 36) as still in use although the church (WI020-023----) was totally destroyed. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 12 November 2012
