Kilcoran, a sub-division of Newtown (Baker), preserves the vanished footprint of St. Cobhran's Church through scattered bones rather than standing walls. Humans uprooted those remains outside the haggard near Kilcoran House, exposing the buried truth that no local memory had kept alive. The graveyard resists easy description because its marker is absence: a name saved in Irish, a church erased from tradition, and dead bodies dragged into light before the place forgot them.

According to Carrigan (1905, vol. 3, 328-9), 'Kilcoran is called in Irish Kyle-coorawin (Cill-Cobhráin), that is St. Cobhran's Church. It is a sub-division of Newtown (Baker). There is no tradition of any church having been ever in Kilcoran townland. Human bones have, however, been uprooted here immediately outside the haggard, to the rere of Kilcoran House; and on this spot, it may be presumed, stood the ancient church of St. Cobhran'.
