Graveyard in Kilmacredock Upper

Graveyard

What is recorded here

Kilmacredock Upper holds a vanished graveyard beside its medieval parish church. Fitzgerald wrote in 1896 that all traces of the burials had entirely disappeared, leaving no marker or boundary for the dead. The field may still cover rows of forgotten people, waiting beneath ordinary grass for someone to imagine them buried there.
On a possible early ecclesiastical site (KD011-002----) which also contains a medieval parish church (KD011-002003-). According to Fitzgerald (1896, 376), the site 'long ago contained a burial-ground but all traces of … interments have entirely disappeared'. There is no visible surface trace of burial markers or of any surface features that might indicate the extent of the graveyard. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011
